Ferric chloride is a covalent compound. Chemical formula: FeCl3. Also known as ferric trichloride, is a dark brown crystal, but also thin, melting point 306 C, boiling point 315 C, soluble in water, strong water absorption, can absorb moisture in the air and make it delirium. The orange crystals of ferric sulfate hexahydrate and ferric chloride hexahydrate were dissolved in aqueous solution of ferric sulfate hexahydrate and ferric chloride hexahydrate. Ferric chloride is an important iron salt.
Mainly used for metal etching and sewage treatment, including copper, stainless steel, aluminum and other materials etching. Low oil content raw water treatment has the advantages of good effect and low price, but it also brings the shortcoming of yellowing. It is also used for printing and dyeing roller engraving, circuit board and fluorescent digital tube production in electronic industry. Concrete is commonly prepared in the construction industry to enhance its strength, corrosion resistance and water resistance. It can also be mixed with waterproofing agents such as ferrous chloride, calcium chloride, aluminium chloride, aluminium sulfate and hydrochloric acid to make mud concrete, which can be used in inorganic industry to produce other iron salts and inks. The dyestuff industry is used as an oxidant for dyeing dyes. The printing and dyeing industry is used as mordant. It is used as chlorinating agent for extracting gold and silver in metallurgical industry. Organic industry is used as catalyst, oxidant and chlorinating agent. The glass industry is used as a thermal colorant for glassware. The soap industry is used as a coagulant to recover glycerol from waste soap liquor.
Another important use of ferric chloride is metal etching. Etching products include spectacle frames, clocks and watches, electronic components, nameplates, etc.
